Welcome to Mindful South Carolina. This site was created to compile resources relative to mindfulness in education. My goal is to increase awareness of mindfulness in South Carolina and help facilitate the implementation of mindfulness programs in our public schools. One of the greatest benefits of the practice is stress reduction. Teachers often find themselves under incredibly stressful circumstances. As a result, many wonderful people leave the profession and, ultimately, our students suffer. Please explore the videos, links, research and other information included in the site. Don't forget to connect with me using the social media at the bottom of this page. I would love to continue the conversation there.
If you are interested in learning more about mindfulness, I am available to present, share resources, and collaborate with you. My initial presentation can be tailored to meet your needs. I have made over forty presentations across the state to many different groups.
My presentation covers the stresses faced by educators and how mindfulness can help manage those stresses. I also discuss the neuroscience and latest research supporting mindfulness. Finally, I introduce a simple practice so that everyone can begin to experience how mindfulness practice works. It is important to note that my presentation is strictly secular. My goal is to ensure that everyone feels comfortable with the information provided and the exercises introduced.
Our state's motto is Dum Spiro Spero, "While I breathe, I hope." That motto could fit these efforts any better. I am filled with hope that our state will help lead the way to healthier inner lives for our students and their teachers.
So if you're ready to learn more, email me today, and we begin discussing how I can help you!
Plans are underway for our 2017 SC Mindfulness Retreat. This retreat is designed for public educators in South Carolina. Continue monitoring this site for more details as they become available. Information about last year's retreat can be found here.
